Overview

Journey beyond Nepal’s busy trails on the Manaslu Circuit Trek, a remote Himalayan adventure through Tibetan-influenced Nepali villages, mountain valleys and the spectacular Larkya La Pass.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is one of Nepal’s most spectacular and rewarding Himalayan adventures, taking you deep into the remote mountain landscapes surrounding Mount Manaslu (8163m / 26781ft), the eighth-highest mountain in the world. From lush lower valleys and traditional mountain villages to dramatic high-altitude landscapes, the trek offers an incredible journey through some of the most diverse sceneries in Nepal.

Located in north-central Nepal, the Manaslu region was opened to international trekkers only in 1991 and remains a relatively remote and less-crowded trekking destination compared with the more established Everest, Annapurna or Langtang routes. Much of the route lies within the Manaslu Conservation Area, where trekkers experience remarkable Himalayan scenery alongside ancient Tibetan-influenced cultures, Buddhist monasteries, traditional villages and a way of life that has remained largely influenced by modern development.

The trail gradually follows the Budhi Gandaki Valley towards the high Himalayas, passing beneath impressive peaks including Mt Manaslu, Himalchuli (7893m/25896 ft), Ngadi Chuli (7871m/25824ft) and other magnificent Himalayan summits. The changing landscape is one of the highlights of the journey with subtropical forests and terraced farmland giving way to alpine meadows, glacial valleys and rugged mountain terrain.

The ultimate challenge of the Manaslu Circuit Trek is crossing the Larkya La Pass (5160m/16929 ft). Reaching the pass is a memorable achievement with breathtaking panoramic views of Manaslu and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. After crossing Larkya Pass, the trail descends towards Bimthang and Tilije, eventually connecting with the famous Annapurna Circuit trekking route.

For adventurous trekkers with additional time, the Manaslu Circuit can therefore be combined with part of the Annapurna Circuit, creating an even longer and more diverse Himalayan journey.

A Carefully Planned Himalayan Adventure

The Manaslu Circuit is a challenging high-altitude trek and choosing the right direction and itinerary is important. We generally recommend trekking from east to west (counter-clockwise), allowing a more gradual approach to higher elevations and providing better opportunities for acclimatization before crossing Larkya La Pass.

Our experienced team carefully plans each itinerary with altitude, walking distances, acclimatization, accommodation and trail conditions in mind. We aim to make your journey safe, comfortable and enjoyable while preserving the adventurous character of this remarkable Himalayan route.

Depending on your preference, we can arrange the trek as a lodge trek, camping trek, or a combination of lodge accommodation and camping. Fully lodge-based itineraries can also be arranged for private groups where suitable accommodation is available along the route.

Flexible Manaslu Trek Itineraries

The standard itinerary presented on this page is 17 days, but we understand that every traveller has different holiday schedules, experience and fitness levels. We can therefore tailor the itinerary to suit your available time and trekking preferences.

For experienced and reasonably fit trekkers, shorter itineraries of around 11 days / 10 nights can be arranged as the most swift one. For travellers who prefer a more relaxed pace and additional acclimatization, we can create a longer itinerary with extra rest and side exploration days.

Whether you are looking for a classic Manaslu Circuit Trek, a private customized adventure or an extended journey combining Manaslu with the Annapurna Circuit, Alpine Exodus can arrange the trip within your interests, schedule and experience.

Join us for an unforgettable journey around the eighth-highest mountain in the world and discover the remote landscapes, rich culture and extraordinary Himalayan beauty of the Manaslu region.
