Overview

The Annapurna Circuit trek with Tilicho Lake is a popular and adventurous trek in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It combines the classic Annapurna Circuit trek with a side trip to Tilicho Lake, which is one of the highest lakes in the world.

The Annapurna Circuit trek is a well-established route that typically starts in Besisahar and follows the Marsyangdi River valley, passing through various landscapes and diverse ethnic communities. After reaching Manang, trekkers branch off towards Tilicho Lake, which lies at an elevation of about 4,919 meters (16,138 feet).

Tilicho Lake is a stunning glacial lake located in the Annapurna region. It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, including Annapurna II, Gangapurna, and Tilicho Peak. The lake is considered sacred by the local people, and it adds an extra element of beauty and adventure to the Annapurna Circuit trek.

The Tilicho Lake section of the Annapurna Circuit is a bit challenging part that requires a good level of physical fitness and it would be best if you have previous hiking experience. The trail at times involves steep ascents and descents, high altitude walks. Proper acclimatization is crucial to avoid altitude sickness – for that Alpine Exodus prepares excellent itinerary. Yet, it’s recommended to be well-prepared at your level best.

The duration of the Annapurna Circuit trek with Tilicho Lake can vary depending on the itinerary and your pace. On average, it takes around 18-21 days to complete the journey. This one presented here (for 19 days) includes acclimatization days, side trips, and rest days along the route.

The best time to undertake the Annapurna Circuit trek with Tilicho Lake is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these seasons, the weather is generally clear, and the views are spectacular. However, it’s important to be prepared for potential weather changes and always check the local conditions before starting the trek.

Itinerary

International airport reception and transfer to Hotel. Your Hotel will be located in the center of Thamel at peaceful location. Upon reaching at Hotel, room check- in is done with welcome drinks. Then a short trip briefing is followed by signing on the trek embarkation forms, acknowledging all the tickets and entry permits – most of which handed to the guide to carry those, so it is not a big deal but good to know that everyone's permit is ready and upto date. Also you may pass us your travel insurance information incase of emergency for the back support. Then there will be free time for rest or visit around on your own.

Morning breakfast around 7am at the Hotel, then board on the privately reserved 4WD jeep to drive to Ngadi (930m). Ngadi is a small town located on the bank of Marshyangdi River (about 220km). The road upto Besisahar is finely built all-season road; after Besishar it’s a seasonal. During the rainy season, the drive only upto Ngadi will be possible without too much dirt and muddy crossing. This is under-construction site.

Overnight at the lodges – to which we have termed as the “Lodge”. All your accommodations during trek will be on the similar ones. The comfort and facilities may be vary from lodge to lodge but every lodge will have one restaurant for the in-house guests' dining, therefore each one is more than sufficiently able to provide hot meals and drinks, offer good accommodations and friendly environment with cleanliness.

During your journey, your breakfast is provided everyday in the same lodge where the night is spent (time around 7 to 8). Lunch around in 11 to 12 almost everyday and dinner in the same lodge where the night is spent. This will be continued on the days to come while you will be in the mountain.

There is a road connection between Ngadi to Jagat – but as said above it is only the seasonal road. So the drive may be not possible. We believe that the trek should be more than pleasant! So no use in case any jeep available to drive to.

The jeep available here are public jeeps used for the local passengers in any case your want to use. As long as the road condition is OK such jeeps are available. So you may choice whether take the jeep or do trek.

If taken jeep, trek will be quicker. You may decide stay at Jagat or go further is totally upto you; just talk with your guide and let you decision to know the porters.
