The Dolpo trek itself is an excellent opportunity of experiencing the ages old culture, tradition and amazing natural beauty that remained isolated for centuries. This trek entirely runs through the Shey Phoksundo National Park area in Dolpo District; is a deep exploration of the scenic beauty and the unique nature that remained intact as nature gifted. The hilly region of West Nepal that borders to Tibet follows the traditional Buddhism and religious practices that is being down transformed from generations to generations at its original form. In Tibet because of the close contact with Chinese administration and westerners, the traditional form of Buddhism has felt somehow a lost. But in Dolpo Region it has remained at its original form. This is an important aspect we would like to invite you to visit Dolpo before too long in the future.

Simple lifestyle, traditional way of living, yak herder as if the nomadic and so on the untold life events makes those who arrive here from outer world truly astonished. You will literally mingle in the vast arid sweeping valleys, radiant hills and slops where the Yak herders haunt their animals continuously.

Overview

It’s the travelers’ choice route that starts in the Lower Dolpo area after the fligh to Juphal airstrip from Nepalgunj and brings respectively to the Upper Dolpo area  where the worth of hard trek gets rewarded truly. It’s a visit of old and colorful Buddhists monasteries, sparsely scattered villages and the locals.  The adventurous trekking routes carefully designed camp breaks extended to Upper Dolpo that takes you through the high passes in Dolpo, Nepal.

This trip is also an opportunity to understand the cultures of Himalayan tribes and the physical challenges they have. In this remote Dolpo, apart from many small settlements, there are two major villages in this route: Shey Gompa and Saldang. In this itinerary there are also two extremes passes that will test your stamina. This trek is full of alpine atmosphere, interspersed with bare mountains.

Itinerary

International airport reception and transfer to Hotel. Your Hotel will be located in the center of Thamel at peaceful location. Upon reaching at Hotel, room check- in is done with welcome drinks. Then a short trip briefing is followed by signing on the trek embarkation forms, acknowledging all the tickets and entry permits – most of which handed to the guide to carry those, so it is not a big deal but good to know that everyone's permit is ready and upto date. Also you may pass us your travel insurance information incase of emergency for the back support. Then there will be free time for rest or visit around on your own.

It is a day in Kathmandu before embarking into the remote Dolpo area. Consider to visit the places like Swyambhunath stupa, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudha Nath Stupa, Pashupatinath etc. It takes about some hours to visit these places and all are located within 2 to 3 mile periphery from your hotel in Thamel.

It's the last best place to add up if any supply is running shortage, should check it while go thru the final packing.
