Location: Jomsom–Muktinath area, Mustang district, Annapurna region, north of Pokhara, Nepal.

Access options:

1. Overland journey: Drive from Pokhara to Muktinath and return.
2. By flight: Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom and return, subject to weather and flight operations.
3. Drive in, fly out: Travel overland to Muktinath and return by flight from Jomsom to Pokhara.
4. Fly in, drive out: Fly to Jomsom and return overland to Pokhara. This is rarely suggested since the flight makes a huge elevation gain in short time of period-that can be risky for many people.

Best time for Muktinath Darshan

Muktinath can be visited throughout much of the year, although September to May is generally the preferred travel period.

The most favourable months are:

1. Autumn (September–November): Generally clear skies, pleasant daytime temperatures and excellent mountain views.
2. Spring (March–April): Beautiful landscapes, comfortable daytime weather and impressive Himalayan scenery.
3. Winter (December–February): Possible, but cold temperatures and occasional snowfall may affect road access.

The monsoon season (June–August) brings rain and possible road disruptions, particularly along the Kali Gandaki corridor.

A practical advantage: Flexible return options

One of the biggest advantages of this Muktinath programme is the availability of both road and air access.

Flights between Jomsom and Pokhara are highly dependent on weather conditions. If flights are suspended because of poor weather, travellers can return to Pokhara by road instead, generally requiring approximately 7 to 8 hrs, depending on road and weather conditions.
